Mesquite police investigating early morning fatality accident

This morning Mesquite police responded to a major accident at 5:48 a.m. in the 400 block of U.S. 80 on the south frontage road.

An investigation revealed that a 2001 Chevrolet truck driven by 28-year-old Mesquite resident Christopher Coronado was eastbound on the service road approaching Hillcrest Street at a high rate of speed. The truck impacted the rear of a tractor-trailer that was traveling on the south service road. 28. The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified as 48-year-old Tracy Wyatt of Tool, Texas. Wyatt was not injured in the crash. Coronado was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by the Mesquite Police Department traffic section.

Mesquite Rotary Holds Annual Four Way Test Speech Contest

The Mesquite Rotary Club hosted its annual "Four Way Test" Speech Contest at the Dallas Athletic Club on March 24th. Contestants from all Mesquite I.S.D. high schools, and Sunnyvale High School participated in the event. Each student gave a five-to-seven minute original speech about applying the Rotary Four Way Test in our everyday relationship with other people and students.
