Rise Biscuits Donuts, Durham’s award-winning concept featuring sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options, today announced that all thirteen Rise stores in North Carolina and Texas, including its new Allen location, will celebrate National Donut Day by donating 10 percent of sales that day to the Salvation Army.
National Donut Day, which is Friday, June, was started by the Salvation Army in 1938 as a way to feed the hungry during the Great Depression and to honor Salvation Army “lassies” who served donuts to troops in World War I.
“What better way to celebrate National Donut Day than by giving back to the charity that started it all and does so much good for the communities we operate in,” Rise Biscuits Donuts CEO Tom Ferguson said. “We hope to see many on June 2 enjoying Rise and feeling good about the indulgence.”
Rise Biscuits Donuts currently has twelve North Carolina stores open in Charlotte (2), Raleigh (3), Durham (2), Morrisville, Holly Springs, Wilmington, Greensboro and Carrboro and just opened its first out of state location in Allen. Each of Rise’s thirteen locations will donate 10 percent of sales to their local chapter of the Salvation Army on June 2.
