The United Family has launched a new service just in time for the post-Christmas gift return season.
Trade In, Cash Out is a gift card exchange service available in all United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and Albertsons Market stores designed to let recipients of unwanted gift cards trade them in for their choice of cash or grocery store gift cards.
“It is estimated that $750 million in gift cards will go unused in 2014,” said Kris Burdis, center store business manager. “We see an opportunity here to really help our valued Guests by turning unwanted gift cards into something they can really use.”
New or partially used gift cards with a remaining balance of $20 or more are eligible for review. Participants can bring the card to the customer service desk or call to inquire and depending on the issuing retailer of the card they may be able to trade it in for up to 80 percent of the card balance.
The trade-in offer amount will vary depending on which retailer the gift card is for. While not all retailer gift cards are eligible, cards from hundreds of retailers are being accepted.
