On Thursday-Saturday, 128 high school football teams will converge on Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station for the state 7-on-7 tournament.
Action kicks off Thursday with the beginning of the Division II and III tournaments, which run through Friday. Division I tournament-bound programs take the gridiron Friday-Saturday.
The Division I tournament features 64 teams divided among 16 pools, including area programs Frisco, Marcus, Coppell, Lovejoy, Frisco Lone Star, Hebron and Mesquite Horn. Meanwhile, Celina and Sunnyvale will be among those competing in Division II, which is designated for schools that fall in between the UIL's 4A and 3A Div. I classifications. This year's Div. II tournament features 32 teams split into eight pools.
The remaining 32 state qualifiers will be in Division III, reserved for those in the 1A-3A Division II classifications.
The first day of each tournament is devoted to pool play, with teams qualifying for either the championship or consolation bracket depending on pool results. In Division I, the top two finishers in each pool qualify for the championship bracket, with the bottom two designated for consolation action.
Based on Thursday's pool results, all Div. II and III qualifiers will be seeded into 32-team championship brackets.
