Erica Harrison

Erica Harrison

Erica Harrison started doing women’s hair and other beauty services not necessarily to make them beautiful but to help them understand they are beautiful just the way they are. Harrison owns a small lash/wax studio in Carrollton and hoping to spread positive messages of loving yourself. Harrison also spend time volunteering with Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano.

Where did you grow up?

I was born in Indiana and I was raised in the DFW area.

What inspired you to work with hair?

I started out doing hair right after cosmetology school but didn’t feel that it allowed good work/life balance since at that time, I had a small child. I transitioned back into the beauty industry  last year focusing on Eyelashes Extensions, Lash Lifts and Waxing. I’ve always been inspired to be a part of the beauty industry because so many women feel that they “need” these services to feel beautiful. My goal has been to get them in the chair and tell them how beautiful they are with or without enhancements.

How do you think your profession as helped you as a person?

I’m a grinder. I believe that hard work pays off and you should do everything you enjoy doing. No one has to have just one skill.

What do you find rewarding about volunteering?

The most rewarding part of volunteering is finding something dear to your heart and making a commitment to it to receive a smile in return.

How do you help out at Minnie’s Food pantry?

I donate 10 percent of my earnings annually to the food pantry and when I have days off around the holidays, I’ll sign up to be a helper.

What advice would you give those who want to volunteer or but don’t know where to start?

Identify something that you are passionate about and find an organization that provides services and set up some time to assist.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Spend time with my family and travel

Favorite movie?

”Coming to America”

What’s one piece of advice you’ve received that’s helped you in life?

Go Hard order Go Home

What’s one goal you hope to accomplish this year?

I will also complete my bachelors degree this year and plan to expand The Self Love Suite to include more spa and holistic beauty services
