A group of Carrollton residents are banding together this holiday season to make one family’s Christmas a bit brighter.
The Carrollton Texas Chatter Facebook page, created by resident Pam Hamill, has be,en filled with chatter about the Erwin family—this year’s official Carrollton, Texas Chatter Christmas Spirit Family. The family of six includes four children ages 3 months, 9 years, 12 years and 14 years old. They are in need of a little Christmas spirit this year, Hamill said.
“I chose this family because one parent had been out of work on an unpaid medical leave for three months,” Hamill said. “They are now playing catch up on bills and more. With three boys and one girl that has got to be hard on everyone. I was looking for a family who just needed that little extra help at Christmas because we all know how stressful the holidays can be.”
This if the first year that Hamill has done the fundraiser.
“Last year I asked for donations from family and friends on Facebook to help out a grandfather who had recently lost his wife,” she said. “The wife handled everything to do with Christmas shopping and he was at a loss, heartbroken from losing the love of his life and no money to buy his grandchildren Christmas due to medical and funeral expenses. It turned out to be a happy Christmas for the family and it makes my heart happy to be able to help others.”
Donations can be dropped off at Ten of Arts Gifts in downtown Carrollton. A list of the children’s’ hobbies, clothing sizes, and interests can be found on the Carrollton, Texas Chatter Facebook group.
“We wanted to help [Pam] with her cause any way possible,” said Lynne Hosid, an owner of Ten of Arts. “We are happy to spread the word of her generous effort. We know with Carrollton’s big heart we will be seeing many helping this local Carrollton family.
“We were able to survive and thrive in downtown Carrollton because of our loyal Carrollton customers. It only makes sense to return the love we have received for so many years. We are thrilled Pam included us this year.”
