Wal-Mart opened its first training facility Jan. 29 at the store on Trinity Mills Road to serve as a setting for in-store experience.
Kory Lundberg, a Wal-Mart media representative, said there are around 200 more locations to open by the end of 2017. The Carrollton store is located at 1213 E. Trinity Mills Road.
The next stores to house training centers will be in Arkansas – Fort Smith and Fayetville. Wal-Mart’s corporate offices are located in Bentonville, Ark.
Lundberg said customers and customer service are changing, and Wal-Mart is looking to train and equip managers and store personnel to better cater to customers.
Prospective managers and in-store staff would train at the centers for two weeks.
Lundberg said the centers will start with around 15-30 members for the two-week course. The first week is based on retail fundamentals, and the second week employees will get sales floor experience in running different departments.
Lundberg said the company anticipates around 140,000 employees going through training centers annually.
