The Frisco Square Property Owners Association announced in a statement Thursday that it was canceling its annual summer concert event. It had been scheduled for July 10 and July 17.
The announcement comes on the same day that Gov. Greg Abbott announced a temporary pause in Texas’s additional reopening phases in the wake of record COVID-19 case and hospitalization numbers in the state, as reported by The Texas Tribune.
“While we understand that this decision may cause disappointment for our community, we cannot in good conscience proceed with an event that we cannot guarantee the safety of our attendees,” the statement read.
Country music performer Justin Mason was scheduled for July 10, and Frisco-based party band Mix Tape was scheduled for July 17.
In March, the “Arts in the Square” event was canceled, also as a result of the pandemic.
