Wakeland, the reigning Class 5A state champion, will enter the playoffs in the unusual position of being the third seed, as it dropped its district finale to The Colony, 1-0, with Natalie Hernandez scoring the lone goal of the match.
Lone Star (8-4-2, 26) took care of business against Carrollton R.L. Turner in its finale and turns its attention to the playoffs as the fourth seed.
Lone Star (11-1-2, 35) completed its run to the 9-5A championship in style on Friday with a 5-0 victory over Carrollton R.L. Turner.
The Rangers defense was stifling, and the offense spread it around, getting goals from Alex Gonzalez, Joseph Dojo, Salim Chavez, Bartek Zabek and Ivan Valencia.
Defending 5A champion Wakeland (8-2-4, 28) battled The Colony (3-7-4, 13) to a scoreless draw, but already had the second seed in the postseason wrapped up.
Reedy (7-4-3, 24) forced a tie for third place after its 3-0 victory over Frisco (7-4-3, 24).
