Lewisville couple James Horton and Casey Tania Horton were killed in a motorcycle crash in Hardin County.

A Lewisville couple was killed in a motorcycle crash after colliding with a pickup truck.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said that the driver of the Harley Davidson motorcycle James Horton, 34, and the passenger Casey Tania Horton, 35, both of Lewisville were pronounced deceased following the crash that occurred on State Highway 326 in Hardin County. The crash happened around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Initial reports indicate that a 2017 Dodge pickup truck was traveling southbound on SH 326 followed by a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The driver of the Dodge pickup truck traveled onto the improved shoulder of the roadway with the intent to make a U-turn. As the driver attempted to make the U-turn, he pulled into the path of the motorcycle.  The motorcycle collided with the Dodge on the driver-side of the pickup truck.  Both the driver and passenger of Harley Davidson fell off the motorcycle and came to rest in the ditch.

Officials said both James and Casey were wearing helmets. The driver of the Dodge, 34-year-old James Ritter of Silsbee, and his passenger were not injured in the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation as troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.
