The Lewisville Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed a 16-year-old girl Thursday evening. Two others were transported by EMS, and a man was in critical condition as of Friday.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the girl as Amya Alane Batie of McKinney.

According to police, just before 10:45 p.m. Thursday, callers reported a shooting in the parking lot of a shopping center on the 1100 block of S I35E. When they arrived, they found the teen girl and the man. The girl was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The third victim had minor injuries.

As of Friday, police do not know the motive nor do they have a clear description of the suspects or their vehicle. Investigators are asking the public’s help in identifying the suspect or suspects involved.

In a social media post Friday, police noted there were a lot of people in the area at the time of the shooting.

“We believe someone knows who is responsible for this act,” the post states. “Any information you might have could help bring justice to this teenage victim and her family. We ask that you join us in offering support and sympathy to the victims and their families.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 972-219-TIPS (8477).
