Shon Joseph, who served as principal of Little Elm High School in 2013, has announced his resignation and will “pursue other opportunities,” according to district officials.

“The students at Little Elm are great, and they deserve the very best education,” he said. “At this time, I think it’s just time for me to move on to other opportunities.”

Joseph mentioned the senior class of 2014 as being a “standout” group and particularly liked the school’s interaction with the community of Little Elm.

“This is a great community,” he said.

Prior to becoming the principal of LEHS, Joseph served as the principal of John Tyler High School, where he was awarded the 2011 and 2012 Region VII High School Principal of the Year award. He also served as the principal of Palestine High School, where he was nominated twice for the TASSP Region VII High School Principal of the Year.

Officials with the Little Elm Independent School District released a statement that stated “LEHS Principal Shon Joseph has resigned to pursue other opportunities. We thank him for his service and wish him well.”

Joseph’s resignation comes on the heels of several other Little Elm High School administration changes. Dr. Jennifer Porter, assistant superintendent of learning and leadership, is moving to Comal Independent School District.

As well, Ron Sterling, associate principal at Little Elm High School, was named principal of Sunnyvale High School. Ellen Murphy, assistant principal at Little Elm High School, has accepted a position at Shepton High School in the Plano Independent School District.

After Joseph’s announcement, district officials held a meeting on June 30 to discuss the administration changes and subsequent outlook on the 2014 and 2015 school year.

Officials also posted a survey on surveymonkey.com for parents and students to fill out. Survey participants will have the opportunity to give feedback “in regards to campus leadership,” according to Julie Zwahr, LEISD community relations director.

The survey can be found at surveymonkey.com/s/STGJBGD.
