Anonymous Alerts

Little Elm ISD launched an app based out of New York this week to give students, parents and faculty an outlet to anonymously report abuse.

According to the National Association of School Psychologists, around 160,000 students stay home from school each day because of bullying and one in 10 teens drop out of school due to repeated bullying. A man named Gregory Bender found these numbers perplexing, so he decided to take action.

In 2012, Bender came up with the idea of an app that would allow students to anonymously report acts of violence or bad behavior of fellow peers. After 20 children and six staff members were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., Bender said he sped up the process of getting the app into as many schools as possible.
