The first half of the 10-6A season came to a close on Friday and there will be plenty to sort out in the playoff race during the next few weeks.
Horn and Rockwall engaged in a defensive battle, but it was the Yellowjackets who were able to eke out a 36-33 victory, leaving both teams tied for second place with 4-2 records.
Rockwall led 18-14 at halftime, and while the Jaguars kept them in their sights during the final two quarters, they were unable to rally for the win.
Montreal Chalmers led Horn with 11 points, followed by Cedric Lott with nine. The Yellowjackets got 13 points from Hudson Goellner and 10 from D'von Turner.
There is also a tie for fourth place, as North Forney knocked off Royse City, 62-55, to pull even in the standings at 3-3.
The Bulldogs, who got 12 points each from Jammel Ward and Nic Weaver and 11 from Damian Quinones, led 25-22 at halftime, but the Falcons surged in the third quarter to take the lead and they were able to pull away down the stretch.
While there is plenty of congestion in middle of the standings, Rockwall-Heath has is alone at the top, as it completed a perfect run through the first half, improving to 6-0 with a 55-39 victory over Mesquite (0-6).
The Hawks doubled up the Skeeters, 14-7, in the opening frame and steadily pulled away during the final three quarters.
Nathan Fleming had 19 points and Cooper Smith scored 14 for Rockwall-Heath, while Mesquite got 10 points from Peyton Wright and nine from Josh Williams.
The second half of the 10-6A slate tips off on Tuesday with a crosstown rivalry game as Mesquite hosts Horn. Rockwall is at home to take on Royse City and Rockwall-Heath heads East to face Tyler Legacy.
