Dallas Christian went toe-to-toe with two-time defending state champion Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill for much of Friday night.
But the Tigers once again proved to be too much as they pulled away for a 40-16 victory in a battle of undefeated teams.
TC-Cedar Hill struck first when Cameron Wilson had a 20-yard touchdown run and Shedeur Sanders followed up by hitting Wilson on a 40-yard scoring strike to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Chargers did not panic and began chipping away.
Jacob Hoezle kicked a 25-yard field goal to get on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter.
Sanders got free for a 27-yard touchdown run, with Dallas Christian matching it on Zack Haaland’s 14-yard burst to the end zone to stay within 20-10 at halftime.
Things got real interesting early in the third quarter when Parker Robertson busted free for a 46-yard touchdown run to close to within 20-16, but the Tigers would take over from there.
Elijah Yelverton’s 26-yard touchdown restored the two-score advantage at 26-16 late in the third quarter.
TC-Cedar Hill then added insurance in the fourth, getting a short touchdown run from Emari Matthews and a 65-yard touchdown pass from Sanders to Rodrick Weaver, Jr.
