There's no shortage of noteworthy performances turned in by student-athletes around the area. Each week, Star Local Media's sports staff will recognize five student-athletes from their respective coverage areas as part of its 5-Star Spotlight.
Here are a few athletes from sports reporter Devin Hasson's Frisco coverage area who have turned in standout moments over the past week.
Riley Smith, Rowlett softball
The Eagles notched victories on back-to-back days against North Garland and Lakeview last Wednesday and Thursday.
in a 17-0 blanking of the Patriots, Smith threw a four-inning no-hitter, striking out four, and also went 4-for-4 with three runs scored, three stolen bases and a pair of RBIs, and against the Raiders, she added a two-run base hit.
Landon Marquez de la Plata, Sunnyvale boys Soccer
Though the Raiders saw their season come to an end in the playoffs, they put together a solid campaign, rising near the top of the state rankings.
Marquez de la Plata was among the team leaders in scoring and he was a bright spot in the 3-2 loss to Anna, tallying a goal and an assist.

Gabby Hanvey, Dallas Christian tennis
The Chargers have enjoyed a stellar all-around athletic year, bringing home championships in a number of TAPPS sports.
Hanvey has the opportunity to add to that resume, as she recently qualified for the TAPPS state tennis tournament.


Cooper Tea, Sachse boys soccer
The Mustangs entered the playoffs eager to avenge a bi-district loss last season.
Tea helped ensure that history would not repeat itself, as he recorded a pair of goals in the first half as Sachse claimed a 4-0 victory over Royse City to advance to the second round.


Siara Figueroa, Poteet softball
The Pirates are in the thick of the playoff race in 12-5A and Figueroa is one of the reasons.
In two games last week, Figueroa went 4-for-4 at the plate, with a triple, home run, three runs scored and eight runs batted in.
