Heart of Gold 5K

The 12th Annual Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run – chaired by Kelli Chabria and Kristi Nicholson– benefits Heroes for Children’s mission to advocate for and provide financial and social assistance to families with children (0 – 22 years of age) battling cancer. Heroes for Children recognizes National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – in September – by bringing Richardson and its surrounding communities together for a family-friendly event honoring the hearts of children fighting cancer.

The 5K will open with a commemorative balloon release led by co-founders Jenny Dowen and Larissa Linton, followed by the Fun Run & 5K. The Fun Run & 5K are open to participants of all ages. Entertainment will include a DJ and children’s Adventure Zone featuring games, activities, bounce houses, rock climbing wall and a special area to honor and remember children who have been affected by cancer. The Heart of Gold 5K & Fun Run also promises prizes, awards, giveaways and food.
