Richard Gene Nightingale, age 69, of Allen, Texas, passed away March 21, 2016. He was born March 3, 1947 in Bristol, Connecticut to Edmund and Dorothy (Matthews) Nightingale. Gene was a man of God and an avid golfer, who enjoyed traveling. During his many travels he played as many courses as possible. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a graduate of Bristol Central High School in 1965. He later attended the University of Hartford in West Hartford. Gene moved to Texas in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Debi Huddleston Nightingale of Allen, Texas; daughter, Marni Nightingale Stallings and husband Mike of Prosper, Texas; grandchildren, Hayden, Hayley and Harrison all of Prosper; brother, James Nightingale of Connecticut; sister, Lauren Nightingale Bigge of Connecticut; three nephews, Eric Nightingale of Connecticut, Chad Nightingale of California, Richard Bigge of Massachusetts and one niece, Dawn Bigge Coon of Connecticut; and many other loving family members and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his son, Justin David Nightingale (2002) and his parents, Edmund and Dorothy Nightingale.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering being held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
