Tillman H. Short passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
Tillman was a Pearl Harbor survivor who went on to serve his country in the Pacific theatre from Hawaii to New Zealand (predominately at Guadalcanal). He was married to Myrtle Atchley Short for almost 64 years. He was “friend” to many and beloved by all who were close to him. Tillman faithfully attended West Allen Church of Christ, where he also served as elder for several years. He served his country, honored his God, loved his family and lived a good life. His love offered no judgement, reassured all equally and was easily returned. With deep pride and a wonderful memory…we let him go.
Tillman was preceded by his wife, Myrtle, who passed away in 2007, and their first two children, Trina and Jimmy, who both passed away in 1948. He witnessed the loss of most of his family and friends throughout his 94 years.
Tillman is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Gwen and Clint Roberts of Allen and Carolyn and Jim Foust of Mineola, his five grandchildren and their spouses, James and Michele Foust of Sachse, Jennifer Webb of Horseshoe Bay, Candace and Blaine Holt of Mineola, Stephanie and Shaun Richardson of Fairview, and Angela and Steve Hartzler of Sidney, Nebraska, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grand daughter and a half-sister, Amy Marie Hernandez of Sherman.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen on Friday at 6:30 until 8:30. Services to be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:00 in the chapel. Burial service to be at Allen Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be made to Meals on Wheels of McKinney.
