Prestonwood Christian Academy sophomores Verone McKinley III and Wiley Green were among the standout performers over the weekend at a Football University combine held at South Grand Prairie.
McKinley was awarded the camp's Gatorade "G" award for his efforts, while Green received an invite to the U.S. Army All-American National Combine.
Football University's recap of the top performers from the camp provided plenty of positive feedback on the two Lions as well.
Regarding Green, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback:
"Best quarterback at the camp. Has a smooth release and solid accuracy. Throws on the run well. He possesses a big arm, does a good job with his timing and a good pre-snap read. Throws the ball with good balance and drives off his back foot. Has the ability to be under center and in shotgun. Shows exceptional feet in his drops."
Regarding McKinley, a 5-11, 170-pound cornerback:
"This young man has one of the best press man coverage skills I have seen int he 2018 class. He uses the mirror technique to perfection. He does not have to put his hands on the receiver to disrupt his route. I questioned his zone coverage skills at the beginning of the camp, but by the end, he proved that he excels at it. Very vocal during the play, you can hear him throughout the play and all over the field. Very compact back peddle."
