Plano West head football coach Scott Smith, who took over the program prior to the 2015 season, will be accepting a new position within Plano ISD, PISD Athletic Director Gerald Brence confirmed Monday.

Smith, who graduated from Plano Senior in 1984, went 4-36 in his tenure with the Wolves. The 2015 campaign was his best season at the helm, when wins over Mesquite, Plano and Flower Mound resulted in a 3-7 effort.

Since a win over McKinney on Sept. 22, 2016, the Wolves have dropped 26 consecutive contests.

"At the end, I appreciate the coaches I had an opportunity to work with and the kids I got to work with," Smith said. "I appreciate them, and I enjoyed every minute of that."

More information regarding Smith's new role and the West coaching search will be available at a later date.
