A motorcycle driver was confirmed dead Tuesday afternoon from a seven-car wreck on U.S. Highway 75, said David Tilley, Plano Police spokesman.
Around 1:50 p.m., Randal Earl Sexton, a 56-year old male from Allen, was driving a 2014 Kawasaki motorcycle down the northbound lane of Highway 75. Due to the show traffic on 75, he illegally entered into the HOV lane and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the same lane. That collision created a series of crashes involving a total of seven vehicles.
Sexton was wearing a helmet, but during the crash, he was ejected from his motorcycle and his helmet came off. He died at the scene. No other serious injuries were reported from any of the other motorists. Sexton's next of kin have been notified.
The investigation, by the Plano Police Traffic Unit, remains on-going.
