The unofficial results are in for the runoff election between Whitney Laning and Diane Lemmons for Place 4 city council seat.
Laning wins the seat with 467 votes, or 51.72 percent, to Lemmons’ 436 votes, or 48.28 percent.
The unofficial results show that the majority of votes were cast during early voting with 690 votes compared to the 213 cast on Election Day.
“I'm incredibly honored to serve Rowlett as the newest member of the Council. I look forward to the many changes and challenges of high growth over the next three years. Thanks to Diane Lemmons and Louis Frisbie on well run races,” Laning said.
"Thank you to all that supported me. It was a true honor to run. I am sure Whitney will do a wonderful job," Lemmons said. "At the end of the day we all want what’s best for Rowlett. #gorowlett #teamrowlett. Let’s all pull together do good for our people."
