Keep Dallas Beautiful, Keep Garland Beautiful and Keep Rowlett Beautiful are partnering together to host the second annual Tri-city Cleanup of Lake Ray Hubbard as part of the Keep Texas Waterways Clean Program.
Volunteers from the entire DFW area are invited to join them in cleaning up the litter that flows down Rowlett Creek and washes onto the Lake Ray Hubbard shoreline, which borders both Garland and Rowlett, is home to over 31 different species of birds and is an important water supply for the City of Dallas.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m. on Oct. 20, at the Hella Shrine Outdoor Pavilion, 2121 Rowlett Road in Garland with deployment to work locations immediately following. Free event tee shirts will be given to the first 1,000 participants, so pre-registration is encouraged. Large groups for 10 or more may pick up supplies, tee shirts and clean up location assignments from the Keep Rowlett Beautiful offices located at 4701 Rowlett Road, Rowlett TX 75088, 9:30 a.m. -3 p.m., Oct. 16-18. These groups may then deploy directly to their assigned location on the day of the event. After a morning of cleaning up the lakeshore, all volunteers are invited to a fun-filled, Volunteer Appreciation Picnic at the Hella Shrine Pavilion beginning at noon with a flag-raising ceremony. There will be lots of “trash” stories to tell, delicious food, a DJ, and fantastic prize drawings.
