One big reason for Sachse’s turnaround from its 0-3 start was its ability to avoid huge mistakes.
However, that happened on Friday and the Mustangs paid dearly.
Sachse turned the ball over four times, two of which ended up in Waco Midway touchdowns, as the Panthers went on to a 56-28 victory in a Class 6A Division I area round playoff game at Mansfield's Vernon Newsom Stadium.

The Mustangs had a pair of fumbles and Waco Midway took advantage, as James Fullbright, who had a huge game on the ground, scored on a 8-yard run and Nick Jimenez then found Demarcus Degrate on a short scoring pass to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Sachse got on the scoreboard early in the second on a 1-yard keeper by Derrick Rose, but the Panthers came right back with a big play, as Jimenez hooked up with Will Nixon on a 67-yard scoring strike to push the lead back to 21-7.
The Mustangs were driving looking to close the gap once again when disaster struck, as Parker Nall intercepted the pass and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown to make it 28-7.
Sachse gained some momentum when Rose scored on a 3-yard run in the final seconds before halftime, but it did not carry over into the second half.
The Panthers extended their lead to 35-14 when Jimenez went back to Nixon for a touchdown pass midway through the third quarter.
The Mustangs never gave up, but Waco Midway had an answer every time.
Myles Nash’s 3-yard scoring run was matched by the Panthers when Fullbright broke free for a 59-yard touchdown.
Sachse got a big play of its own when Rose hit a streaking Chase Cromer for a 58-yard touchdown, but the Panthers closed it out in the final minutes. Jimenez had a 39-yard touchdown run and TyRike Brooks delivered the knockout blow with a 30-yard pick-6 that made it 56-28 with just a few minutes left in the game.
The Mustangs actually moved the ball well on the ground, averaging 6.3 yards per carry. Torey Washington had 11 carries for 112 yards, Nash went for 98 yards on 17 carries and Rose added 61 yards on 15 attempts.
Braylen Brooks notched his 11th interception of the season, Jordan Brooks recorded a team-high eight tackles and Ryan Jones, James Whyte and Bryce Robinson each added seven stops to pace the Sachse on defense.
