The Sachse defense held North Garland scoreless for the final 21 minutes to help propel them to a 24-21 victory on Friday at Williams Stadium.

North Garland gave Sachse all it wanted on Friday, but the Mustangs had just enough to survive, as they claimed a 24-21 victory on Friday at Williams Stadium.

Sachse improves to 5-2 overall and moves into a four-way tie for first place in 10-6A at 3-1. The Raiders, who earlier lost a one-point game to Rowlett, saw their hard luck continue as they fall to 4-4 and 1-3.

It looked as if the Mustangs would be able to enjoy an easy night early on, as Parker Wells hit Robert Jones on a 29-yard scoring strike and Jordan Nabors found the end zone on a 13-yard run to take a 14-0 lead.

North Garland got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter when Sabron Woods broke free for a 68-yard touchdown run, with Sachse countering later in the period with a 42-yard field goal by Addison Perez that gave them a 17-7 lead into halftime.

The Raiders came roaring back after the break. Goodenss Nwawuihe reeled off a 87-yard touchdown run and Woods scampered into the end zone form two yards out and they suddenly had a 21-17 lead.

The Mustangs were able to regain the advantage late in the third quarter on a 9-yard run by Wells and the defense did the rest, holding the Raiders scoreless for the final 21 minutes.
