There's no shortage of noteworthy performances turned in by student-athletes around the area. Each week, Star Local Media's sports staff will recognize five student-athletes from their respective coverage areas as part of its 5-Star Spotlight.
Here are a few athletes from sports reporter David Wolman's coverage area who have turned in standout moments over the past week.
Addison Dorsay, The Colony softball
The Lady Cougars have made quick work of their last two opponents, earning a 16-0 victory against Newman Smith on March 15 followed by a 17-0 triumph over Frisco on Tuesday. Dorsay starred on the mound, throwing complete-game shutouts in both contests. She allowed two combined hits, including a no-hitter against Frisco.

Cole Ridenour, Flower Mound baseball
The Jaguars responded from its first district loss of the season with an emphatic 11-1 victory against Plano on Tuesday. Ridenour brought a big bat, going 3 for 4 with four RBI, including a double and a triple. Ridenour’s RBI double in the first inning gave Flower Mound a 3-0 lead.

Drew Schmidt, Lewisville baseball
Schmidt tossed a complete game two-hitter with five strikeouts in Lewisville’s 5-1 victory against Plano West on Tuesday. The Farmers remained in first place in District 6-6A, improving to 3-0 in the conference standings. It’s the first three-game district winning streak for Lewisville since 2017.
Ella Lowe, Lake Dallas softball
The Lady Falcons earned a 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Colleyville Heritage on Tuesday. Lowe was sensational in a winning effort, allowing no earned runs with five strikeouts. Junior Payton Bragg hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Nick Mazzola, Marcus baseball
Mazzola set the tables at the top of the Marauders’ batting order, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs in Marcus’ 5-0 win over Coppell on Tuesday. He has been on fire offensively in Marcus’ last three games – all wins – with seven hits in his last eight at-bats.
