Rangers Draft High School OF in Mock

The Texas Rangers have the No. 4 overall pick in July’s the 2023 MLB Draft and another prediction has a high school outfielder coming their way.
The Athletic recently published a first-round mock draft and, like ESPN’s version from earlier this year, the Rangers are taking the same player — South Brunswick (NC) outfielder Walker Jenkins.
Jenkins can also play shortstop and has already committed to North Carolina on a baseball scholarship. He played in the 2022 All-American Classic.
Perfectgame.com evaluates Jenkins as a “polished left-handed batter with big power.”
In the mock, The Athletic has two LSU players going with the first two selections. The Pittsburgh Pirates, who own the No. 1 pick, are projected to take Tigers outfielder Dylan Crews. The Washington Nationals would select right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes at No. 2.
Jenkins was not the first high school player off the board in this mock draft. That was Max Clark, an outfielder from Franklin (Ind.) Community High, who went No. 3 to the Detroit Tigers.
The MLB Draft will be July 9-11 in Seattle, which will take place alongside the MLB All-Star Game and MLB Futures Game.
