MESQUITE – The McKinney North football team captured the program’s first-ever outright district title Friday, getting a 42-0 run from a 21-21 tie on its way to a 63-21, Senior-Night-spoiling road win over Mesquite Poteet.
The stakes do not get any higher for Horn and West Mesquite on the final day of the regular season, as both teams are battling to extend their seasons.
The final week of the regular season features no shortage of drama, with several district championships and playoff berths on the line.
There is plenty at stake as 7-5A Division I heads into its final week.
Some might have thought Poteet was a team trending downward.
