In its first varsity season, the Frisco Emerson football team continues to make history as it remains undefeated with a 34-17 win over Mt. Pleasant Thursday night at Toyota Stadium.
The Mavericks, led by quarterback Daryl Shelton's three rushing touchdowns and another score through the air, improve to 4-0 — the first Frisco ISD school to win its first four varsity games in the district's history.
Shelton's one passing touchdown was caught by Kelton Wafer, a dynamic catch in the corner of the end zone in the first half. (See photos of the catch below, it's pretty cool.)
The Mavericks finished with 272 yards total offense, 140 on the ground.
Oh, and Emerson also had a score on defense when Tyson Cannon returned a fumble 70 yards to put the Mavericks ahead 21-10 in the first half.
Emerson led 21-17 at the half, before adding two more scores in the second half to seal the win.
