There's no shortage of noteworthy performances turned in by student-athletes around the area. Each week, Star Local Media's sports staff will recognize five student-athletes from their respective coverage areas as part of its 5-Star Spotlight.
Here are a few athletes from sports editor Matt Welch's coverage area who have turned in standout moments over the past week.
Jackson Rooker, Celina baseball
Rooker and the Bobcats impressed during their run through last week's Collin County Invitational. The Tennessee Tech signee hit .500 from the plate on the week with seven hits, including a home run, as well as four RBIs, four walks drawn and five stolen bases. Rooker even took the bump for 4.2 innings pitched against Jesuit, earning the win and allowing no runs on just one hit.

Kennedy Bradley, Prosper Rock Hill softball
Bradley has wasted no time making her presence felt as a freshman. The shortstop impressed once again for the Lady Blue Hawks, hitting .600 on the week with a .714 on-base percentage. She logged three triples, two home runs, six RBIs and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Mark Buckingham, McKinney Boyd boys soccer
