The Colony Police Department issued the following press release regarding the death Sgt. David Fitzpatrick, who worked for the department for 28 years:
It is with a heavy heart that The Colony Police Department shares the unfortunate news that Sergeant David Fitzpatrick has passed away. Sergeant Fitzpatrick suffered a serious medical episode at work on June 7, 2019 and was on life support until Tuesday. Sgt. Fitzpatrick worked for The Colony Police Department for 28 years and was our most senior police officer. He will be sorely missed by his family, police family, and the countless citizens of The Colony he has served since 1991. We are working with the family to determine funeral arrangements and will announce those plans once they have been formally finalized. Any notes or cards for the family can be dropped off inside the police department near the police records window, Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A vigil will take place at 8 p.m. Friday in front of the police department located at 5151 North Colony Blvd.
Visitation for Sgt Fitzpatrick will be held Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Bill Deberry Funeral Directors, located at 2025 W. University Drive, Denton, from 2–5 p.m.
Funeral services will be Monday at the First Denton Church, located at 1100 Malone Street, Denton, Texas, 76201. The service will begin at 11 a.m. and will conclude with full honors and be followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Park, located at 3801 Roselawn Drive, Denton.
